Farblich und symmetrisch hypnotisierende Moscheen

Die Fotografien des iranischen Fotografen  Mohammad Reza Domiri Ganji  stellen Irans prächtige urbane Landschaften dar. Hypnotisierende Farben wie bei einem Kaleidoskop und aufwendige Verzierungen lassen die Betrachter in eine Welt entführen, fernab den politischen Ereignissen im Iran. Um dies zu erschaffen, reiste Domiri durch sein Heimatland und dokumentierte einige architektonische Schätze. Dabei benutzt er Fisheye- und Weitwinkelobjektive, um unter anderem auch Moscheen und historische Bauten neu zu inszenieren. ››Die Perser haben eine spezielle Architektur, die Licht ins gesamte Gebäude lenkt.‹‹ Domiri fokussiert sich aber nicht nur auf Architektur, sondern auch auf alltägliche Szenen, in denen z. B. die Arbeiter in einem Teppichladen hervorgehoben werden.

Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, located in the Naqsh-e Jahan Square of Isfahan city, was built during the reign of Shah Abbas I of the Safavid dynasty. Plenty of mosaics are used in construction of this mosque. The chief architect of this masterpiece was Sheikh Bahai and many famous calligraphers and artists of Safavid collaborated in its creation. This mosque has a 45 degree angle for adapting to Mecca. Unlike any other mosque in Iran, it does not have a Sahn or a courtyard. Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque seemed to be the most compact Mosque I had ever seen. Upon entering I was met with turquoise mosaics, streams of light from the windows in an otherwise dimly lit space shone onto the tiles, walls and scriptures of Quran, giving the place and ethereal feeling. Before taking this photo I entered the Mosque many times, taking in and relishing its beauty for many hours.

Emarat-e-Badgir (Windward Edifice) is one of the buildings in the Golestan Palace complex in Tehran, which dates back to Qajar era. This edifice has been the location for coronation of Mozaffar-e-Din Shah of Qajar. The building retains a windward on the top which clarifies the title. The exclusive ornaments of this building such as the glasses, the mirrors, and tall columns are of exceptional beauty. As soon as I entered the building of wind catchers,the first and the most important thing that got my attention,was glourious mirror works on the ceiling. Generally,when you think of a mirror,you see it as a tool which you can see yourself in it,that's why you find a mirror interesting and amusing. But when it combines with art,when it is divided into little pieces and placed next to each other artistically,it makes you to pay attention to the space and not yourself anymore. It's like the ceiling is a carpet made of mirrors which is seen all over the place.That is why it is so fantastic.

Palace of Hasht Behesht, meaning "Eight Paradises" is a Safavid era palace in Isfahan. It was built in 1669.

The Karim Khan castle (or Arg-e- Karim khan) is a monument located in the center of Shiraz city, dating back to Zand dynasty. This structures consists of several different parts such as rooms, chambers and baths. The walls of this citadel are decorated with beautiful paintings and miniatures all around and the crenellated walls resemble the ancient Persian architecture. The picture below shows a view of the bath in this complex. The unique architecture, lighting and patterns presented in the Iranian baths catch any visitors eyes from the first glance. Seeing this place gave me a historic mood,since the moment we are looking at the walls and sentry tower from outside,till we come inside and to the yard,this mood is feeled more and more,and when you arrive to the bath it reaches it's maximum.and the play of light in that dark place and coolness of the space,adds to this mood.
